IKO Honbu International Intensive Course

2026 IKO International Intensive Course & Dan Examination was held at Mitsumine Shrine & IKO Honbu Daikanyama Dojo from May 7th to 9th.
Approximately 50 IKO members participated in this 3-day intensive training. Upon arrival to Mt. Mitsumine on May 7th, participants went to Sosai Masutatsu Oyama’s Memorial to pay respect to Sosai Oyama. The 1st training session was held at Hotokuden Hall. Kancho Matsui focused on Kihon and Ido to explain essential principles in depth.
In the early morning on May 8th, outdoor session under sacred cedar trees was conducted, focusing on Kihon and Sanchin. Right after the session, participants were escorted to Mitsumine Shrine’s Honden (main hall). Traditional Shinto prayer was conducted for everyone’s continued health and world peace.
After checking out the shrine’s hotel accommodation, participants paid respect to Sosai Oyama’s Memorial and climbed down steep mountain path for Takiabi (traditional water fall training).
The last day, May 9th, the final session & Dan test was conducted at IKO Honbu Daikanyama Dojo. Advanced Katas were covered and Jiyuu kumite (free fighting) concluded the course.
The International Intensive Course is held after international events in Japan, to refresh IKO instructors’ techniques, and is an excellent opportunity for international camaraderie and cultural exchange.
