The 30th Memorial of Sosai Matsutatsu Oyama's Passing & The 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of the IKO Kyokushinkaikan



Year 2024 heralds very significant milestones for the IKO KYOKUSHINKAIKAN, as we recall the 30th Memorial of the passing of Sosai Mastatsu Oyama, and commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the IKO KYOKUSHINKAIKAN. Ceremonies marking these events, were held on April 26, 2024, in Ikebukuro, Tokyo; the sacred birthplace of the IKO KYOKUSHINKAIKAN.

The memorial ceremony was conducted by Mitsumine Shrine Chief Priests, and observed by Kancho Shokei Matsui, IKO executives, and many IKO Branch Chiefs and members in attendance. 

After the memorial ceremony, the 60th anniversary reception party was held with approximately 500 guests. Many important guests were welcomed to the celebration, including World Karate Federation Honorary President Takashi Sasagawa. 

At the closing remarks, Kancho Matsui stated, "The 60th anniversary is a very important milestone. At 60th birthday (Kanreki), you are considered to be reborn to start a new life. On behalf of the organization, I extend my heartfelt gratitude and respect to the entire worldwide membership, family, and friends, who continue to support our endeavors. I look forward to working together as one, to further develop the IKO KYOKUSHINKAIKAN towards the future, as we bring up the next generation, that will lead us to our 100th Anniversary!"
