The 20^th European Open Karate Championships and European Cup were held on December 9^th and 10^th, at Budapest, Hungary, organized by IKO Hungary Branch Chief Sensei Tibor Illes, supervised by Shihan Katsuhito Gorai. The championships were attended by 680 competitors, from 20 countries, ages 10 years old, up to senior members. Before the Men's and Women's final matches, IKO Hungary members performed a special demonstration to commemorate the late, Shihan Karoly Halasz, IKO Hungary Branch Chief who passed away on January 1^st, 2023. Shihan Gorai presented Shihan Halasz a posthumous 6^th Dan for his lifelong dedication to develop IKO Hungary, which was received on behalf of the family by Sensei Vivien Halasz. On December 11^th, IKO Training Seminar was conducted, where 60 IKO Europe members participated.
