Japan Parade

The 2nd Annual Japan Parade was held on May13, 2023 in New York City. Sponsored by the Japan Consulate, Ambassador Mikio Mori, and supported by Grand Marshall, Olympic Figure Skater Gold Medalist, Kristi Yamaguchi and Mayor of the City of New York, Eric Adams, nearly 100 NY area based Japanese organizations representing traditional dance, martial arts, music, anime, and media arts, presented with over 2000 participants. An estimated 50,000 spectators attended the parade celebrating Japanese culture, food and arts in the USA. From the IKO, 50 members ages 1.5yrs and up, from the USA NY-NJ Branch walked the parade, and conducted a series of demonstrations along the way down the iconic route along Central Park West from 81st to 67th street. At the main stage red carpet, IKO members performed basics, ido and Tameshiwari demonstrations, which were covered by US and Japan national news media and press organizations. OSU!
