2022 marks the 150th anniversary of the visit of the Japanese Mission to USA, led by Japanese Ambassador Tomomi Iwakura in 1872, which resulted in cultural exchange and the growth of Japan-USA relations. To celebrate the anniversary, the first ever Japan Parade was held on Central Park West in New York City on Saturday, May 14, 2022. IKO Kyokushinkaikan was invited to participate and led the parade of cultural organizations down the avenue, performing Kyokushin Kata, Kumite and Kihon along the mile-long route lined with more than 20,000 spectators, culminating in a main stage demonstration, tameshiwari and baseball bat breaking on the red carpet for US national and Japan broadcast television.
