On September 29, 2021, IKO Poland Branch Chief, Shihan Jan Mazurkiewicz, Fifth Dan, passed away. He was 63 years old.

Shihan Mazurkiewicz has been an active and vivacious member of the Kyokushin family since 1978. He led the Włocławek Kyokushin Karate Club and dedicated his life to the development of the Kyokushinkaikan in Poland. Shihan Mazurkiewicz will be remembered as a great trainer, who advanced generations of young karate-ka. The IKO Kyokushinkaikan has lost a great teacher, role model and friend.
