News Release

International Karate Friendship & Kyokushin-Sai

Osu,

I hope all of you are healthy and safe.

In Japan, the Coronavirus state of emergency was lifted last week. Due to the continuing health risk with large gatherings however, IKO Honbu has decided to postpone the annual "Kyokushin-Sai" and "International Karate Friendship" that were to be held in Kyoto this August. IKO Honbu plans to reschedule these two events to coincide with the 52nd All Japan Open, and 2020 Women's All Japan Championships, November 28th and 29th, 2020. The scale of these championship events, such as the number of participants (and spectators), will be decided dependent on the risk level in the weeks ahead. IKO Honbu intends to prioritize applicants who were scheduled to attend April's International Karate Friendship. We will provide details as they are determined.

Coronavirus continues to spread around the world, please be safe in your region. We hope to see you in Japan this November.

Osu,

International Department IKO Kyokushinkaikan
