The 2017 Shanghai Kyokushinkaikan Karate Summer Camp was held from July 22 to 27 in Yijidojo, Pudong, Shanghai organized by IKO China Branch Chief Sensei Jian Wang. The camp included 5-day intensive training courses and an extra Kyu/Dan testing day. It was a great success with instructions lead by Shihan Taichiro Sugimura from IKO Honbu and assisted by local coaches. A total of 150 students and coaches attended the camp. Shihan Sugimura demonstrated and explained not only the details of Kata, but also Kumite techniques which helped the members to receive useful defensing and attacking knowledge and skills. All participants were able to carry out the Kyokushinkaikan Karate spirits while working hard on camp training in July with scorching heat in Shanghai. The camp ended with a Kyu/Dan test on July 27th. 124 students passed the Kyu and 12 passed the Dan test. With the support of Kyokushinkaikan headquarters, the 2017 Shanghai summer camp was successfully completed and Sensei Wang hopes it would bring an even better one next year. OSU!
