IKO LA Seminar was held at Manhattan Beach, California on September 12th and 13th, organized by USA Branch Chief Shihan Patrick Fard. The seminar was led by Shihan Katsuhito Gorai and supported by IKO Branch Chiefs and attended by over 60 IKO USA members from all over southern California. On the first day, two sessions were held at the Manhattan Beach Dojo, covering basics, ido and fighting technique. On the second day, the first session started at 6am in seiza position waiting for the sun to rise on the beach, and both conditioning and kata were covered. The last session focused on kumite. After the 2-day seminar, "The 1st LA Cup Kata Championships" were held for LA members to sharpen their skills before the attending Shihans, and gain competitive experience amongst peers.
