The Team Mixed World Cup was held on July 5th, 2015 in Sao Paolo, Brazil, organized by IKO Brazil Branch Chief Shihan Seiji Isobe.
12 teams from around the world participated in this Mixed Team style tournament. Russia defeated Japan in the final to win the tournament.
This event was supported by the Brazilian government and sports ministry as a 40th anniversary event since Shihan Isobe travelled to Brazil in 1972 to pioneer Kyokushin Karate in the region, and also as the 50th anniversary of Kyokushin Karate itself. "Goodwill and peace" through Kyokushin Karate around the world was the theme of the event as mixed teams of "Kata, Youth, Women, Senior, Men" all competed together in this event.
This was the first time ever in tournament to fight in this mixed team style and was a great success due to the support of many parties such as Shihans, Branch Chiefs, fighters, staff and a large crowd of spectators.
The day before the tournament there was a seminar led by Kancho Matsui where 1200 IKO members gathered and took part, thus making it one of the biggest seminars.
On top of the successful event "October 10th", the day Shihan Isobe arrived in Brazil in 1972 was unanimously approved as the "Kyokushin day" by the Sao Paolo municipal council.
