The French Open Karate Championships was held in Lyon on March 14th and 15th, organized by IKO France Branch Chief Shihan Jacques Legree and Sensei Nicolas Bergel. Approximately 150 competitors participated from 9 neighboring countries including France, Belgium, Spain, Moldova, UK, Germany, Romania, Serbia and Switzerland. Shihan Katsuhito Gorai oversaw the weekend festivities. The Main event of the championships was the Men's Super Heavy Weight Kumite. Alejandro Navarro of Spain defeated Djema Belkhodja of France by weight difference. The Championships in Lyon have been successfully developing each year, and we look forward to seeing further growth in the future.
