On March 7th the annual Calgary Cup Karate Championships were held in Calgary Alberta Canada. Under the direction of Branch Chief Stuart Corrigal and Sensei Brad Gillespie, the organizing team did an outstanding job and put on a top-notch event which featured over 300 entries, including kata, team kata and kumite divisions for all ages. Participants and spectators enjoyed a first-class competition in an environment that balanced friendship and community with gritty hard work and Kyokushin spirit.
After the event, everyone had a chance to relax and enjoy the famed annual gala.
An officiating seminar was held the day before to help sharpen the skills of the officiating teams with valuable feedback given to all participants.
