2015 IKO Honbu Winter Camp



The annual winter camp of IKO Honbu was held from January 4th thru 6th at the Mt. Mitsumine Shrine in Saitama, Japan. Kancho Shokei Matsui, Shihan Yuzo Goda, Japanese team head coach Hitoshi Kiyama, 5 Japanese fighters that will fight in November's 11th World Open Tournament along with 100 members Men, Youth, Women and Senior's participated.

The camp started with all participants paying respect to Sosai's monument followed by special training conducted by Kancho Matsui and Kancho's lecture at night.
The second day started with early morning training and a Shinto prayer followed by the marathon in the afternoon and at night there were skits.
In the final day, participants trained early morning and a Shinto prayer then walked down the mountain and did the traditional "Water Fall" training to finish the 3 day camp.

Japanese team fighters trained under the leadership of head coach Hotoshi Kiyama and assistant coach Ryu Narushima. After they arrived at the Mt. Mitsumine Shrine they run for 40 minutes trained with other participants at Kancho's special training then had a special fighters training mainly focusing on Kumite. Japanese team fighters had 5 special training sessions including early morning training at 5:30am on the 2nd day.
