European Open Karate Championships

1.jpg The IKO European Open Karate Championships and IKO European Juniors, Seniors & Kata "Karate Cup" were held in Sosnowiec, Poland on November 29th & 30th, 2014. This event was organized by IKO Poland Branch Chief Shihan Eugeniusz Dadzibug. Approximately 270 participants from 17 countries took part in the championships which were attended by Kancho Shokei Matsui and Shihan Katsuhito Gorai.
The IKO European Karate Cup was held on the first day. On the second day, an IKO International Training Seminar was conducted for all regional members by Kancho Matsui and Shihan Gorai in the morning, followed by the IKO European Open Karate Championships. All competitors displayed outstanding physical skill and technique, exemplifying the Kyokushin Spirit.
The 50th Anniversary of the IKO Kyokushinkaikan was celebrated with memorial statuettes presented to all IKO European Branch Chiefs and Dojo Operators during the Sayonara Banquet to close the weekend.
The Men's Open division served as a selection tournament for next year's 11th World Open Karate Tournament in November 2015 in Tokyo, Japan. The next official selection for European members will be the IKO European Weight Category Karate Championships in Berlin, Germany on May 9th, 2015.
