Honbu Summer Camp

Main Web.jpg The 2014 Honbu Summer Camp was held from July 19 to 21 in Lake Yamanaka of the Yamanashi prefecture with 120 members from all ranks and ages participating.
Last year's All Japan champion Kyohei Ajima, world heavy weight champion Syoki Arata, world light weight champion Takaichi Onuna along with a number of Japan's top fighters participated and trained with other students as well as participate in all activities such as tug a war to light up the camp.
First day training was mainly Kihon, Ido, and strengthening. After usual training, top fighters had an extra training session mainly on Kumite under the leadership of Sensei Makoto Akaishi. At night in Kancho Matsui's lecture, he talked about the history of Kyokushinkaikan which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, his memories with founder Sosai Oyama and the direction Kyokushinkaikan is heading towards the future.
The second day started at 5:30am with the marathon followed by outdoor training focusing on Kata and partner training. In the afternoon participants trained in groups followed by tug a war, sprint relay race and at night enjoyed the traditional stage play.
Participants trained from 5:30am for 2 hours in the final day to finish the 3 day camp.
