IKO President
Kancho Matsui's speech
"Thank
you for your attendance here at Sosai Masutatsu Oyama's 20th Memorial Ceremony.
This
year marks a huge milestone for the Kyokushinkaikan as we celebrate our 50th
anniversary, as well as memorialize the 20th year since the passing of our
beloved founder, Sosai Mas Oyama.
This
solemn ceremony is usually held at Mitsumine Shrine at Chichibu Mount Mitsumine
where Sosai's spirit is entombed. We are gathering today instead at Tokyo
Metropolitan Gymnasium, our time-honored Championships site, in order to remind
ourselves of Sosai Oyama's Kyokushin Spirit of keeping our heads low, eyes
high, reserved in speech with hearts as one, and basing ourselves on the belief
of filial piety. In this arena, we dedicate ourselves forward towards the next
50 years, and to the eternity of the Kyokushinkaikan.
My
sincere gratitude and respect goes to everyone here today. Thank you for your
everlasting support.
We are
pleased to present The International Karate Friendship in honor of Sosai Oyama.
In witnessing today's Championships, I hope you will gain a complete
understanding of Sosai Oyama's objectives and hope for the Kyokushinkaikan.
Once
again thank you for joining us today. I sincerely appreciate all your
support."
