Winter Camp in Moscow, Russia


The Russian Winter Camp was held from January 16th to 19th, 2014 in Moscow organized by Branch Chief Shihan Alexander Ipatov. International Committee Member Shihan Katsuhito Gorai and 8th world tournament champion and All Japan coach Shihan Hitoshi Kiyama were the guest instructors. 10th world tournament champion Tariel Nikoleishvili who will be challenging the 100 Man Kumite in April, David Sarkhoshyan, Ivan Mezentcev, Elena Vorobyeva were amongst the 240 participants.

The first day started with 2 training sessions with Shihan Kiyama leading the way. The first session mainly focused on Kihon and Ido, the second Sanbon-Tsuki, Yakusoku Kumite and self-defense.
Day 2 started with Shihan Gorai teaching Kihon, detailed Ido and combination. The second session was the world champion technical seminar with Shihan Kiyama and Tariel leading training.
The two training sessions of day 3 was the 1000 Punch (Seiken, Jyodan, Agouchi, Shitatsuki, hijiuchi 200each) and 1000 kick (Hiza, Mae-Geri, Mawashi-Geri, Yoko-Geri, Ushiro-Geri 200each) followed by kicking techniques from long distance.

The last day of the camp was a Kyu and Dan Test with World Weight Category fighters Lasha Gabaraev and Stanislav Romanchev amongst the participants. Tarial participated in the Dan Test kumite. At the end he performed a demonstration kumite with Sarkhoshyan and Mezentcev to finish off the camp.
