2014 Kagami-Biraki

The 2014 Kagami-Biraki (Official Dojo Opening of the Year) was recently held at the Metropolitan Hotel in Ikebukuro, Tokyo on January 11th.
The Kagami-Biraki started from 6:30am and 120 members including, Kancho Shokei Matsui, Shihan Yuzo Goda, Shihan Masatoshi Yamada and Branch chief's, instructors, fighters and students participated on this traditional event. The Training consisted of all the basics and physical training with a focus on pushup technique.
Kancho Matsui gave his New Year speech, special Advisor Kyosuke Machida lead the toast and all participants promised a good fresh start heading into the New Year. Included was a Genkotsu Tournament (iKyokushin Game) and a banquet that was enjoyed by everyone. The event was official closed with Shihan Goda's final toast.
The IKO Kyokushinkaikan has now officially started a monumental year 2014, celebrating the 50th year since the foundation and 20 years since Sosai Masutatsu Oyama passed away when Kancho Shokei Matsui was appointed to succeed the position of IKO President.
