2013 Women's World Karate Champioships Official Results

The 2013 Women's World Karate Championships was held at the Tokyo Gymnasium on April 27th &28th. The light weight final was the same as last year with Elena Vorobeva (RUSSIA) facing Natsuki Ota (JAPAN). Ota won 5-0 by decision in the first extra time. In the middle weight 5 time champion Anastasia Khripunova (RUSSIA) lost to the 2011 Women's Open 2nd place Julie Lamarre (CANADA) in the semi finals. In the final Julie Lamarre (CANADA) fought last years 2nd place Yuma Tazaki (JAPAN) and won 4-0 by decision in the main round. In the heavy weight 3 time champion Agnieszka Sypien (POLAND) lost in the quarter final and the final was against new comer Miyu Kagaya (JAPAN) and Uliana Grebenshchikova (RUSSIA). Uliana Grebenshchikova (RUSSIA) came from behind to win 4-0 by decision in the main round to claim her first title. There were new champions at all 3 categories in the 2013 Women's World Karate Championships.
