The 9th South American Kyokushin Karate and 1st South American Kyokushin Karate Women's Tournament was held on January 20, 2013 at the Baby Barione Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil supervised by Branch Chief Shihan Seiji Isobe. 21 women fighters and 51 men fighters from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay and Brazil participated in the weight category tournament which was a selection tournament for the fighters in South America to participate in the 5th World Weight Category Tournament in Japan in April.

Shihan Isobe's Report:
This January tournament had many obstacles due to the gymnasium facility changes and conflict with school calender in Brazil so it influenced the number of spectators. However, I appreciate that it was a wonderful tournament with a decent number of fighter participating. Now we focus on strengthening our team further more to prepare for the world tournament to show the strength of South American Kyokushin Karate.
